A Brave New Connected World

JTS

Having read an article by Yashar Sahaleh on LinkedIn about Google’s bids for a fully connected world, it made me feel positive that we are in for a pretty interesting near-future.

Google’s bid is a two-prong attack with a lot of social upside. The bottom line is that they want all the eyeballs they can get for their marketing platform. This is their money making machine and they are going to get it by smartly creating their own infrastructure via Wifi/Balloons/Satellite/Courier Pigeon.

Since they are in the market to gain eyeballs and not profit from the internet delivery vehicle (a la Comcast/AT&T/Verizon) they are going to provide a lot of internet at a reasonable rate (prior art=Google Fiber) to a ton of people that may never have had access to it (last mile/third world).

If Google is successful in pulling this off, along with their buddy Elon Musk’s plans for his own battery systems for the average home, our future is going to be pretty bright within the next decade.

Oh and they are both going to probably make a boat-load of money doing it.
