JetPack and Google+ Default Setup Steps

JTS

Just a quick tip. When you setup Jetpack with WordPress, and then connect to Google+, make sure you do a test run and ensure your post to Google+ is actually shared publicly.

We had re-setup our account recently with a new Google + user and continue to post updates via our blog. We hadn’t realized till recently that all of our new post updates from WordPress were showing up in Google Plus as “shared privately”. Obviously not too beneficial from a marketing perspective.

When you setup a new Google+ user OR are setting up JetPack for the first time, you need to make sure that you allow the WordPress plugin access to your Google+ account and that the settings are to whatever circle you want your posts to default to (ours is “publicly”).
